Interracial relationship; These days we live in a world that accepts people from different colours and backgrounds, people live harmoniously together. These days we see a lot of mixed couples with people from various backgrounds. Being myself in a mixed relationship at the moment I found it quite difficult at first, due to me never dating outside my race and the fact that I was never the type of person to hold hands in the street and also the fact that I already knew what reaction other people will have, which made my partner sometimes wonder if I really loved her.
Interracial dating struggles
Another facts that did not help were people around me and their stereotype (my partner is German), but also had to endure stereotypes from other people, that despite being in the 21st century still cannot accept that 2 people can love each other regardless of their color. I had sometimes rude comments and people starring in disgust whilst me and my partner were walking down the street hand in hand, but as always those comments and starring never put me down, instead, they had the opposite effect, got me to show the world how much I loved my partner. Those comments were not only made by other people but people of my own race, that was against this kind of relationships. Indeed despite being in the 21st century these kinds of relationships are still frowned on by a lot of individuals, that have views as ”stick to your own” or ”he/she stealing away one of our man/women”.
Interracial relationship advice
My advice to mixed couples is to remember that you love each other and that no matter what is said or done, nothing can change the way you feel about the other person. Remember those people can hate you as much as they want, but they cannot destroy the love you have for your partner.
